Amy Azzaro was a Field Service Technician on PATHOS-II, stationed at Upsilon.

Description[]

As evidenced by the many drawings found throughout site Upsilon, Amy passed the time by sketching things, aquatic wildlife in particular. Several haikus written by her can also be found in Upsilon's observation tunnel.

Amy appeared to be close friends with Carl Semken; among Amy's sketches is a picture Amy drew of herself and Carl saying "Carl and Amy: Pathos buddies".

Biography[]

Not much is known about Amy Azzaro's life before PATHOS-II or personal life in general. Her surname could mean that she's Italian, or of Italian descent. She also had a husband, who she had to leave on the surface and be separated from likely for most of the year due to her work on PATHOS-II, before the Impact Event.

On January 12, 2103, before Comet Telos impacted, her husband sent her one last video in which he admitted that he regretted that they couldn't have a "normal life" together, but was still proud of his wife and glad that she got to follow her dreams.

On April 28, 2103, after the evacuation of Upsilon towards Theta, Amy and Carl Semken were ordered to remain behind by Jane Adams to automatize the power and ensure the power generators were maintained. There they discovered that the Universal Helpers were beginning to act very strangely.

After activating all of Upsilon's generators, Amy sent an email to Heather Wolchezk on May 3, 2103, informing her about the erratic behavior of the Universal Helpers. Wolchezk suggested locking off sectors of the site to prevent the helpers from getting to sensitive areas.

On May 4, 2103, Carl was attacked and killed by a Universal Helper robot that also pursued Amy. She managed to evade and electrocute it with a power cable, after which she left Upsilon. Outside, she contacted Peter Strasky to tell him about Carl's death. Strasky urged Amy to come to Theta.

Inside the shuttle station at Upsilon B, Amy contacted Strasky once again, saying she was going to restore the power to the shuttles. While attempting to do so, she had an accident. Mortally wounded, Amy became fused with the WAU before she could die, causing her to remain alive artificially.

In SOMA[]

Simon Jarrett finds Amy in the power room of the Upsilon B shuttle station. She appears to have been fused with the WAU after an "accident," where an artificial "lung" made of structure gel appears to keep her breathing. Amy pleads Simon not to hurt her. By talking to Amy further, she will inform Simon that the WAU will not allow her (or anything else) to die. She then says that she "wants to go home." Simon can choose to keep Amy alive by only unplugging one of the sockets -- which gives the shuttle an unstable amount of power. Unplugging both of the sockets will kill Amy.

No matter what Simon's decision is, the shuttle will still crash. If Simon unplugs only one socket, it will give the error message "power unstable" as opposed to the track blockage message should Simon choose to unplug both sockets.
