Baxter Rogers was a PATHOS-II Geotechnical Engineer, originally stationed at Upsilon. He appears in the mini-series Transmissions.

Biography

Rogers relocated to Theta in April 2103 along with the rest of Upsilon's crew members apart from Amy Azzaro and Carl Semken.

Item #4520 describes Baxter's experiences while being scanned by Dr. Catherine Chun for the ARK on August 17, 2103.

At some point prior to December 20, 2103, Baxter was recruited to the Lambda Salvage Crew.

In Transmissions

In Lambda, Rogers shows a generally calm and friendly demeanor, at odds with his personality in Item #4520. He appears to have a strong friendship with Martin Fisher.

After Adam Golaski killed Richard Holland, Rogers helped Dorian Cronstedt incapacitate him and lock him in a cargo hold.

Baxter was killed by a reanimated Martin Fisher while attempting to save Vanessa Hart.

Behind the Scenes

There are multiple sources found in the game that both conflict and reinforce the version of events depicted in Transmissions.

• A staff log at Upsilon lists Rogers as being at Theta, though notably also lists Vigdis "Jonsy" Jonsdottir as being at Theta and not Omicron where her corpse is found in-game.
• Another log found at Theta lists Rogers as alive, though this is simply a manifest written by a member of staff and could be a mistake on behalf of whoever was writing it.
• Finally, the only in-game log that references the events of Transmissions directly is the report written by Dr. Nadine Masters about Hart's return from Lambda, which confirms that she was the only one to return.

The cause for these discrepancies is likely an oversight by Frictional while the details of the story were being finalized later in development—the idea for Transmissions' story may have been developed afterwards, with the crew featured in the story being characters with no fate confirmed directly in-game.
